Ground floor, at the back, behind the kitchen
The Tevaiora Room
This is a room of this hotel. No other business owns it, it shares our address, and reaching it never takes you out of the building. The casino is the room the cane company used as its ice store, at the back of the ground floor, and it has the same roof over it as the room you sleep in.
From the front desk you turn right into the breezeway, walk past the laundry door, and the gaming room is at the end of it. Forty paces, all of it under roof, which matters here between November and April. There is a person on that door for the whole of every opening hour, and that is the only way in.

- Hours Wednesday to Sunday, seven in the evening until one
- Size Five tables and a bar with four stools
- Age 18, with a photograph identity document, every visit
- Dress Dry clothes and shoes. Nothing else is asked.
The room
Five tables fit in it and five is the most it will ever hold. On a Wednesday in March two are open. In July all five are, and on those nights the casino door keeps a tally of everyone in and out, forty-five being what the room holds and not one more.
It is a cold store, so it is a box: block walls nine hundred millimetres thick, a concrete floor with the drain still in it, and a ceiling of exposed hardwood joists. Three fans turn overhead and that is the loudest thing in there. We do not play music, which surprises people, and we do not hide the time either: the casino has a clock on the end wall, and the staff are told to tell you the hour the moment you ask, without being asked twice.
About the dress rule. Dry clothes and shoes, and it has to be said out loud because the pool is sixty metres away and people forget. Nobody has ever been turned away for what they were wearing except for being wet.
Age and identification
The age for a casino in Queensland is 18 and we apply it with no exception of any kind, and that includes a guest sleeping thirty metres from the door.
The document is looked at on every visit, not once when you arrive. That includes the guest who ate at the Long Table an hour earlier and spoke to the same member of staff. A passport, an Australian driver licence, or a state proof-of-age card is what we take. A picture of a licence on a phone screen is not a licence, and arguing the point at that door has never once worked.
Nobody under 18 gets into the casino at any hour at all, closed hours included, cleaning hours included, and including simply to have a look. If you want your sixteen-year-old to see the thick walls, we will show them the plan.
Limits, and how to stop
A limit is agreed on the casino floor with the person running it. Name your figure before you sit down and it is written down and held to. If you would rather they proposed one, ask, and they will.
Stopping is arranged in person at reception. Not in the gaming room, not by telephone, not by email. Self-exclusion is signed at the desk, bites that same evening, and comes off only when you stand at that desk again and ask for it. Nobody here can do any of that for you over the counter of the bar.
Credit is not extended on the casino floor in any form, and nothing on this property dispenses cash: not the room, not the breezeway, not the hall. The nearest one is at the bottom of Begley Street, and walking down the hill and back is four hundred metres each way, which is about as long as it takes to change your mind.
Nothing is played on this website
What exists is a casino room inside a hotel in Airlie Beach, Queensland. That is the full extent of it. The site describes a room and a building. No game is run from it, no stake is taken by it, no account is opened on it and no money passes through it.
To play you come to 14 Begley Street, show a document at the door at the end of the breezeway, and sit down. That door is the entire entrance, and nothing you have read here is any part of it.
