Rooms

Twelve of them. Every one opens onto a verandah, every one has louvres, and none of them is above another guest room.

Verandah rooms

Six of them, three on each wing, all on the ground. The doors fold right back so the verandah becomes part of the room. These are the rooms people ask for again, and they are the ones that go first in July.

Upper rooms

Four rooms under the roof of the north wing, which the mill used for its own staff. The ceiling follows the rafters, so the room is tall in the middle and low at the edges. Ceiling fan and air conditioning both.

Corner rooms

Two rooms, one at each end of the north wing, with windows on two walls. They get the breeze whichever way it is coming from. The floor in both is the original hardwood, darker than the rest of the house because it never had carpet over it.

Louvres from waist height to the ceiling, and a flyscreen behind them.
A ceiling fan as well as the air conditioning. Most people use the fan.
A kettle, two cups, and a tin of the tea we drink ourselves.
A wardrobe with wooden hangers that do not come off the rail.
No television. There is one in the hall if you want one.

Arriving and leaving

Rooms are ready from two in the afternoon and we ask for them back by ten. If your boat gets in at six in the morning, say so and we will leave the hall open and hold your bags.
